The problem with the CAE is that I don’t actually like people, or pinball. I’m incomprehensibly bad at pinball. And people.

This leaves arcade games (though the people get in the way.)

The sound on the sit-down version of Sinistar is mind-blowing and terrifying and something I’d never experienced before. It’s things like that that I missed by having my arcade education come primarily from MAME rather than a reasonable local arcade.

This is why it’s nice to play on real hardware sometimes. To understand the angle of the monitor and the distance between the controls and the other details and remember these were designed as systems with hardware and software and controls and marquees.

It should be a crime to have ports of Missile Command without a trackball and it was wrong for me to ever play it that way.
