Your Companion Cube Must Be Euthanized

What amazes me about Portal is that the portal gun was enough to carry the game in and of itself, but they didn’t let it.

Instead they crafted probably the best few hours of video gaming experience - brilliantly scripted and executed - in recent memory. The dialogue, the voice acting, the atmosphere, the attention to detail - it was as if a team actually focused on making every moment and every bit of that game work as an experience instead of just shoving it all together into a box and shoving it at people.

And the caring about quality - that’s what I yearn for. I want to experience things that were designed well. That you pick up or experience and feel that the creators cared and were brilliant.

Too much seems wasted on the mediocre.
