I’d just like to give a big “fuck you” to Valve for automatically upgrading my store-bought copy of Half-Life 2 automatically, rendering it unplayable.
I mean, do these people even do the most basic testing of this stuff before it’s sent out over the network? This isn’t like a minor hard to find bug that wouldn’t have been noticed for a while.
How the hell do you even file a bug report for that?
ISSUE: PATCH MAKES HALF LIFE 2 INACCESSIBLE
THE GAME NO LONGER STARTS. PREVIOUSLY GAME DID START, AND ALLOWED PLAYER TO USE SOFTWARE. THIS SEEMS LIKE A PRETTY FUCKING BIG DEAL. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE.
I knew that Steam was a horrible, horrible idea the minute I read about it, but it’s Half-Life 2, what was I going to do? It was bad enough when the installation failed the first time I tried it… they can treat me like a criminal and force me to authenticate the game prior to installing, but couldn’t bother to fix that? Or just tell me I had to install Counter Strike for the damned thing to work?
PS - Besides that though, best fucking game in years.
