At Fault

“Did you know that professional writers write outlines, then fill in the dialogue and action later?”

“Yeah, all those books on writing talk about outlines.”

“Anyway I do the opposite, I write a piece of dialogue or action I really like and then write a script around it. That may explain why all my scripts are unfinished and lack focus.”

“Look, you figure if somebody is writing books about writing books, that means they can’t get anything real published, or they wouldn’t waste their time with that garbage.”

“So… it’s not my fault the scripts lack focus?”

“Everything is still your fault.”
